Latest Play Room News
We would like to welcome all of our existing and new families to Holly Corner for Spring Term.
There has been lots going on in the nursery already this term and Badgers (1-2yr room) have been busy creating lots of lovely areas in the room for our youngest children to explore. The children have been exploring cause and effect toys such as ‘push and go’ and ‘posting’ activities. Over the next few weeks they will be exploring a wide range of messy play activities such as body painting, pasta play and gloop.
The children in Hedgehogs have been busy creating a new home for their African Land Snails ‘Beauty and Beast’. The children have helped to create a new display behind their home and have been learning lots of facts about the snails including what they eat, where they are from and how they move.
We recently celebrated story-telling week and Hedgehogs children focused on The Gruffalo, Dear Zoo, Stick Man, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and the Very Hungry Caterpillar. The children explored art and craft activities relating to the stories and had fun recreating them with small world play.
On Wednesday 13th February, Hedgehogs will be holding a Superhero day where children are welcome to dress up as their favourite super hero and enjoy a range of super activities such as designing and creating their own masks and enjoying a superhero picnic.
In Squirrels, the children have also been celebrating storytelling week, with plenty of literacy activities being explored. The children even created their very own story that is being made into a book for them to read whenever they wish.
In Letters and Sounds time, we have been looking at alliteration and having lots of fun finding words to go with our names such as Sammy Snake and Green Grace. The children have also been learning how to clap out the syllables of their names; they can now do this perfectly and have begun to clap out any word given to them. Well done to our Squirrel children.
